ACORD - Reinsurance and Commercial Program

Resources and Documentation - ACORD - Reinsurance and Commercial Program
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are six key data messages in the ACORD Reinsurance and Large Commercial suite:

  • The Placment message – for placing business
  • The Technical Account message – for processing premium or claim transactions
  • The Financial Account message – for premium or claims settlement
(also known as the Settlement message)
  • The Claims Movement message – for claim notification, handling and reserving
  • The Bordeaux message – for Bordeaux transactions
  • The Acknowledgement message – for business and process confirmations.

These messages are supported by “infrastructure” standards: the Document Repository Interface (DRI) standard for the management of supporting documents (e.g. the electronic claims file) and the ACORD Messaging Service (AMS) standards for packaging the data and documentation sent in any interchange.

ACORD has also developed the Global Placing Document (GPD) which is a paper standard (or “form”) for use when placing business – this was originally based upon the LMP Slip and has subsequently been updated to reflect the MR Slip. The GPD contains additional class-specific headings and is mapped to the electronic Placing message, to allow for clear transition from paper form to electronic data.
